Training teams were dispatched by the current
Director General to train United Nations  Forces
at Tuzla, Bosnia and elements of the Security
Forces of the European Union (EU).

James Shortt became the first outsider to train the Russian Komitet Gosudarstvennory Bezopasnosti
(KGB) (Committee for State Security) in the Crimea (1991), and started the training of Polish government
and corporate  bodyguards in (1988), as well as bodyguards in  Estonia (1989), and Latvia and Lithuania
(1990). To date James Shortt has trained bodyguards on 5 Continents, including thirty-six  countries.
James Shortt  is the current hereditary Baron of Castleshort. As such he is the Colonel and Commander of
one of the oldest existing bodyguard formations in the world; The Royal Galloglas Guard.  The Galloglas
originated in Western Scotland and its isles from the Warlike offspring of mixed Celtic and Viking
marriages. They were established in Ireland at the turn of the 14th Century, following their success against
Anglo-Normans while under the command of Sir William Wallace and King Robert the Bruce. To learn

The current IBA Director General was a
student and protege of Lucien Ott's and
led IBA training teams to the Baltic
Republics and Afghanistan, He pioneered
the IBA method in Russia, the Ukraine,
Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
